It is safe to use reusable containers during the pandemic. Your clean reusable water bottles, utensils, and shopping bags are all safe. Make sure you don’t share them with others, and that you keep them clean. Disposable products are no safer, and contribute to the waste stream and the problems associated with plastic pollution. Read more here. Since some grocery stores will not handle your reusable bags, ask them to put the items back into an empty shopping cart and you can transfer them directly to your car. I have stocked my car with boxes for the task (see photo), making it easier to unload when I get home.
