Administrator Wheeler’s decision not to strengthen the particulate matter (PM2.5) annual and 24-hour standards puts public health at risk! PM2.5 pollution can penetrate the natural defenses of the human body and can become lodged in the lungs and enter the bloodstream. Long-term PM2.5 exposure exacerbates asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), and other serious respiratory illnesses.
