June 3, 2018 was the first official World Bicycle Day. I hope you celebrated by going out for a ride. As bicycling season is officially underway, here are some tips to ride safely:

1. Be seen: Wear reflective and bright colored clothing when riding. Be sure that you have lights and/or reflectors on the front and back of your bike if you are riding at dusk or at night.

2. Be predictable:  Stay in your lane when riding. Use hand signals when switching lanes, and signal with a bell or horn when passing a pedestrian. Be courteous of others while on a shared use path.

3. Follow the Rules of the Road: When riding on streets, bicycles must follow the rules of the road. This includes stopping at all marked intersections (such as stop signs).
