The US EPA’s work over the past year or so has been primarily to dismantle regulations designed to protect our health and environment.  Late last year, academic scientists removed from key positions on scientific advisory boards and replaced with industry insiders. However, even industry scientists have questioned recent actions by Administrator Scott Pruitt. According to this article from Inside Climate News, “The Environmental Protection Agency’s Science Advisory Board, in a rebuke to the Trump administration’s retreat on environmental protection, voted overwhelmingly Thursday in favor of a full board review of the agency’s most important actions to dismantle climate policy.” Only 2 members dissented from the recommendation.  It is good to see that science is alive and well in spite of the reconfiguration of the members of this group, and I am hopeful that scientific analysis will prevail and preserve these important regulations.
